When it comes to starting out in any career, there are going to be concerns of whether or not you are going to know enough to make it a smooth transition. The real estate market is already scary enough as it is since it is a commission based field, but add in that you are new at it and you will have a whole new set of fears. Not being able to make your bare minimum monthly expenses is the greatest fear of all. It’s all or nothing when you get started in such a field. New real estate agents must dedicate as much time and energy as they can to their new career.

If you do just that you will see how wonderful everything turns out. Ignore it and assume that it will all take off on its own and you will see your career crumble. Those who are the most successful at making money during their first year of work as a real estate agent are those who are not afraid to ask for help. In order to make sure that you are giving your career the best shot possible you will want to find a knowledgeable person to act as your mentor. Talk with those in your new office and see who knows the most and who is the most willing to give you a hand.

Above and beyond the typical administrative protocol and procedures that you learned already, there are other things that you must be taught. Learning how to negotiate, prospect for new clients, and closing a sale are extremely important aspects of the job. Without knowing all of this, you will find that you will not be as successful as you could be. In order to make the most out of your time with a mentor, make sure that you are picking someone that is similar to you in their style and habits. This is the best way to make sure that every moment you spend with your mentor is well worth the time and energy.

Your mentor will be able to show you the tricks of the trade, which will bring you to more closings. More closings mean more money. Instead of slowly learning everything you need to know through trial and error and wasting t he first year of your career you can get a jump-start. New Real Estate Agents find that if they do not have the proper guidance they will not make money in their first year. This lack of income is what usually drives people away from their new career, as their financial situations at home cannot handle going that long without steady money coming in. Do not allow that to happen to you.

In order to make sure that you are going to make it in your new career, you need to make sure that you are getting a nice cash flow coming in. New Realtors really need to watch because there is so much to learn. Without taking the time to learn it all, one will find that they have many troubles. Something that is not taught in the courses taken to receive the real estate license is that of time management. By not controlling your schedule and making great use out of every minute of your day you could be very well throwing away thousands of dollars.

To make better use of your time as someone new to the real estate field, you are going to have to have a game plan.  One of the biggest mistakes that those new to this career make is that they waste too much time on clients that are never going to buy. There are always going to be two types of buyers out there. There are those who know what they want and are ready to buy. And then there are those who will look at one hundred homes and still never be ready to buy. With help from a mentor in the office, you can learn to classify your two types of clients.

By making sure that you are not spending all of your time with the wrong type of clients, you will greatly increase your chances at making a great deal of money in your first year. Even though firing clients is not an easy experience, you simply will not have the time and energy to waste on them. If you find that you are simply being dragged around to home after home with no clear sign of them purchasing anything in the near future, it is time for you to end the client-realtor relationship. Do not worry about losing their business, as there are many more people out there who are ready to buy now.

Also, you need to make sure that you are free from office distractions. As with any type of office, there is always going to be friendly conversation, which is fine in moderation. But too much of it could completely waste you day. If you are able to balance friendly conversation in the office and your work then by all means spend a lot of time at the office. Some New Realtors find though that there are just too many distractions that they cannot get past.

Since you do need to office some all you have to do is strike a balance between the real estate office and your home office. Moderation is everything whether you are talking about relationships with your clients or with the people you work with. Keep yourself focused and you will have many wonderful experiences as a real estate agent.
